In general, most federal employees as well as their spouse who are eligible for the Federal Employees Health Benefits program will also be eligible for the Federal Long-Term Care Insurance Program. That said, government workers will need to apply to receive this benefit, and certain health conditions could exclude someone from coverage.
Keep in mind that most health insurance programs, including the Federal Employees Health Benefits program, provide little or no coverage for long-term care. Worse, long-term care is decidedly expensive. This is why it is worth investigating to determine if the FLTCIP makes sense to meet any potential future need.
